Winter Skin Care Routine 2017

Hey beauty queens!

Today I've decided it was time to share my updated skin care routine. It usually changes every 6 months or so, but I always like introduce a new product or two every so often because I'm such a product whore. I love it. The treatments, the luxury and the fancy smells! It's been a dream of mine forever to have a skin care line, so stay tuned for that! :)  Also, I don't literally do all these steps every day and night, I am human and get lazy. This is just a condensed version of my skin care routine. Special thanks to the Eccotique Spas for the Glo Skin Beauty products.

I was unaware until after I filmed this, but a few of the products have been discontinued! Like the mask I'm using, I cant believe they discontinued it, it's the best! I also have the Tight & Bright clay multi mask, which has two types of masks and I think the purple one is pretty similar to this discontinued mask. It's all about that amazonian clay. Also, the serum and the scrub treatment I used rebranded themselves. It's the same product though, they just have newer packaging which is WAY prettier. Good call on their part.

Anti-Aging/Decrease Hyperpigmentation Skin Care Routine

Hello Gorgeous!

Today I wanted to share with you my latest skin care goto routine. I recently visited The Vanity Lab twice which is in Vancouver Canada, in the heart of Yaletown, my favourite part of the city. Last week I went for full body laser hair removal, and then the other day I went back and got an IPL laser facial. I received one of these treatments about a year and a half ago in the wintertime and LOVED it, but I believe sometimes you'll need to do a few treatments depending on the severity of your pigmentation/dark spots. I love this facial because not only is it affordable, you will see results almost immediately- this time within about an hour after the treatment I could really see the freckles come up to the surface layer of my skin. then the next couple days it turned into dark specks that looked like coffee grinds sprinkled on your face, looked like toasted freckles! I still have some specks on my face and chest in this video FYI. Anyway, here is the video:

*ZO Skin Health by Dr Zein Obagi products are only available for purchase at The Vanity Lab. They are a dermatologist medical grade skin care line that only sells their products from vendors that are educated to properly "prescribe" the products. Feel free to call them or go into the shop to ask if its right for your skin type.

Face masks are so much fun. I've created tons of DIY ones with dry bentonite clay powder, then added in whatever liquids I want! It could be jojoba oil or water, then a drop or two of tea tree essential oil for acne, or lavender essential oil for calming and healing. I've also made masks from avocado, coconut oil, oatmeal, egg whites, honey, yogurt, the list goes on. Doing face masks just reminds me how much I love being a girl! Who doesn't love a good face mask, girl talk and wine?!

Anyways, I hope you learned something new and enjoyed this video!! Please don't forget to subscribe :) - Sophia xo

DIY Hair Growth Treatment

DIY Hair Growth Treatment

Hello Gorgeous!

Try this at home do-it-yourself hair mask treatment with me that I came up with. I believe that pampering yourself is an extremely vital part in feeling good about yourself and having self confidence. Feed your hair with this recipe including ingredients that focuses on hair growth. Along proper diet and exercise, I recommend taking vitamins including biotin and other hair growth ingredients which all affect hair, skin, and nails. I'm currently using Hairtamin as well as taking High DHA Omega 3 Oil and Maca root (for brain/mental health)

RECIPE:
2 TBSP Castor Oil
1 TBSP Jojoba Oil
1 TBSP Coconut Oil
10 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil

Mix in small bowl, place in pan with hot water to melt:

Only heat until it melts, or it will be too hot to put on your scalp! Although It's feels nice for it to be a little warm, just be careful. Be sure to not get too happy with the rosemary drops-  I planned on only using 10 drops but ended up using 20, and now my scalp feels like its having a brain freeze! Rosemary is great for stimulating growth in your hair follicles, is antibacterial, & prevents greys/balding. Castor oil is the main active ingredient for hair growth in this recipe because it is high in Ricinoleic acid and omega 9 fatty acids. I also recommend putting it on your lashes & brows each night for fast growth. Jojoba oil removes the sebum present at the scalp allowing for new growth and active ingredients to absorb. Coconut oil hydrates, softens your hair and is full of beneficial nutrients and antioxidants for your hair.

I ended up sectioning my hair into parts and using the spoon to drizzle the hair oil deep into the scalp. Focusing on mainly the scalp, smooth through ends and massage it in for a few minutes. As you can see, the oil got on my face but whats a DIY if it isn't messy? I'd like to leave mine overnight, but since I added double the Rosemary oil it feels like ice so I washed and conditioned it after 2 hours:

My hair feels so soft & clean! I find this treatment helps remove product build up (store bought products) making it a lot easier to work with. Do this treatment once a week, or as often as possible. If anyone is curious which Shampoo & Conditioner I use, I alternate between Green Apple & Ginger Shampoo & Conditioner by Desert Essence (which I just used) and Blonde Angel Wash & Blonde Angel Treatment by Kevin Murphy. Stay beautiful and I hope I've inspired you to pamper yourself! Let me know your fav DIY hair masks

Fractional Resurfacing Facial

Fractional Resurfacing Facial

Last month I visited The Vanity Lab, and received the caviar of all facials. This treatment uses an ablative laser to remove the top layer of your skin, forcing it to create and repair a new layer of fresh skin. Heres the quick low-down on my experience:

PAINFUL? Yes

TIME? Less than an hour

COST? $750 CAD

RECOVERY? 3 days downtime. 2 weeks full recovery

VISIBLE RESULTS? Yes

OVERALL WORTH IT? Yes!

Here is a video from my Snapchat (username: sophiapierson) right after the facial. My face was on fire!!

It felt similar to laser hair removal, tiny hot elastics hitting your skin, except this feels A LOT hotter and your face instantly feels like its burning after (which it is!). The only difference is that you can literally smell your skin burning, I kept joking with Bob (Manager & Skin Specialist) that it smelled like chicken dinner. He gave me a little tube that blew cold air on my skin so that I could relieve some of the pain. He also applied a topical numbing cream before the treatment which helped a bit, but I am VERY sensitive to pain.

Here is a photo of my skin the next morning:

Zoom in and notice my forehead and cheeks, you can actually see the dots where the laser hit. Keep in mind I have an ointment on my face, which you apply day and night for 3 days (Absolutely no makeup!). You can only wash your face with a water and a cloth, day and night for 3 days followed by the ointment. The ointment encourages desquamation (shedding) of the skin, which allows for virginal skin. My skin felt exactly how it looks in this photo above, like sandpaper.

Here is a photo of me 2 weeks post treatment, full recovery:

This photo is completely unedited (no Facetune!) and you can see how fresh my skin looks. I have almost no pores left, and putting on makeup is an absolute breeze. Foundation sits on your skin nicer and lasts longer. I would say this treatment is PERFECT before a big occasion or a trip- especially where you will be taking a lot of photos. It kind of felt like I was erasing all the mistakes and starting fresh, which motivated me to keep up with my skin care regime. I've been using tons of masques and serums to absorb into the new skin. A lot of these expensive products go to waste if you don't properly exfoliate, they just end up sitting on top of all the built up gunk.

Overall, it is safe to say that this treatment is a must try!! Check out The Vanity Lab if you are based in Vancouver, or check out their products online!
