DIY Hair Growth Treatment

Hello Gorgeous!

Try this at home do-it-yourself hair mask treatment with me that I came up with. I believe that pampering yourself is an extremely vital part in feeling good about yourself and having self confidence. Feed your hair with this recipe including ingredients that focuses on hair growth. Along proper diet and exercise, I recommend taking vitamins including biotin and other hair growth ingredients which all affect hair, skin, and nails. I'm currently using Hairtamin as well as taking High DHA Omega 3 Oil and Maca root (for brain/mental health)

RECIPE:
2 TBSP Castor Oil
1 TBSP Jojoba Oil
1 TBSP Coconut Oil
10 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil

Mix in small bowl, place in pan with hot water to melt:

Only heat until it melts, or it will be too hot to put on your scalp! Although It's feels nice for it to be a little warm, just be careful. Be sure to not get too happy with the rosemary drops-  I planned on only using 10 drops but ended up using 20, and now my scalp feels like its having a brain freeze! Rosemary is great for stimulating growth in your hair follicles, is antibacterial, & prevents greys/balding. Castor oil is the main active ingredient for hair growth in this recipe because it is high in Ricinoleic acid and omega 9 fatty acids. I also recommend putting it on your lashes & brows each night for fast growth. Jojoba oil removes the sebum present at the scalp allowing for new growth and active ingredients to absorb. Coconut oil hydrates, softens your hair and is full of beneficial nutrients and antioxidants for your hair.

I ended up sectioning my hair into parts and using the spoon to drizzle the hair oil deep into the scalp. Focusing on mainly the scalp, smooth through ends and massage it in for a few minutes. As you can see, the oil got on my face but whats a DIY if it isn't messy? I'd like to leave mine overnight, but since I added double the Rosemary oil it feels like ice so I washed and conditioned it after 2 hours:

My hair feels so soft & clean! I find this treatment helps remove product build up (store bought products) making it a lot easier to work with. Do this treatment once a week, or as often as possible. If anyone is curious which Shampoo & Conditioner I use, I alternate between Green Apple & Ginger Shampoo & Conditioner by Desert Essence (which I just used) and Blonde Angel Wash & Blonde Angel Treatment by Kevin Murphy. Stay beautiful and I hope I've inspired you to pamper yourself! Let me know your fav DIY hair masks

Fractional Resurfacing Facial

Last month I visited The Vanity Lab, and received the caviar of all facials. This treatment uses an ablative laser to remove the top layer of your skin, forcing it to create and repair a new layer of fresh skin. Heres the quick low-down on my experience:

PAINFUL? Yes

TIME? Less than an hour

COST? $750 CAD

RECOVERY? 3 days downtime. 2 weeks full recovery

VISIBLE RESULTS? Yes

OVERALL WORTH IT? Yes!

Here is a video from my Snapchat (username: sophiapierson) right after the facial. My face was on fire!!

It felt similar to laser hair removal, tiny hot elastics hitting your skin, except this feels A LOT hotter and your face instantly feels like its burning after (which it is!). The only difference is that you can literally smell your skin burning, I kept joking with Bob (Manager & Skin Specialist) that it smelled like chicken dinner. He gave me a little tube that blew cold air on my skin so that I could relieve some of the pain. He also applied a topical numbing cream before the treatment which helped a bit, but I am VERY sensitive to pain.

Here is a photo of my skin the next morning:

Zoom in and notice my forehead and cheeks, you can actually see the dots where the laser hit. Keep in mind I have an ointment on my face, which you apply day and night for 3 days (Absolutely no makeup!). You can only wash your face with a water and a cloth, day and night for 3 days followed by the ointment. The ointment encourages desquamation (shedding) of the skin, which allows for virginal skin. My skin felt exactly how it looks in this photo above, like sandpaper.

Here is a photo of me 2 weeks post treatment, full recovery:

This photo is completely unedited (no Facetune!) and you can see how fresh my skin looks. I have almost no pores left, and putting on makeup is an absolute breeze. Foundation sits on your skin nicer and lasts longer. I would say this treatment is PERFECT before a big occasion or a trip- especially where you will be taking a lot of photos. It kind of felt like I was erasing all the mistakes and starting fresh, which motivated me to keep up with my skin care regime. I've been using tons of masques and serums to absorb into the new skin. A lot of these expensive products go to waste if you don't properly exfoliate, they just end up sitting on top of all the built up gunk.

Overall, it is safe to say that this treatment is a must try!! Check out The Vanity Lab if you are based in Vancouver, or check out their products online!
